I was at one of the Asian malls the other day and I was pretty excited when noticed a new shop: The Face Shop!
My friend usually gets me stuff from this store whenever she goes back to Korea and so it was nice that there's a store here (I won't have to bug my friend anymore hehe).
One of the items I bought was their Volcanic Ash Self-Heating Mask from the Nature's Gifts line:
The mask looked really dark just by looking at it from the tube:
But it is not really very black like some of the other volcanic masks (MAC Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask):
See what I mean? The mask is more on the clear side.
PROS:
-Self-heating:
I definitely feel the thermal heat effects once the gel is rubbed onto my face. I like it because it feels pretty relaxing.
-Gives squeaky-clean feel:
The gel feels quite thick and so I was afraid that it won't give my skin a squeaky-clean feel after I had washed it off but it actually feels really clean and smooth.
-Good for oil-control:
My skin type is combination but it is more on the oily side during summer and so this is why I chose to try this since it claims to absorb excess oils while exfoliating the skin.
-Good scrub:
The volcanic ash particles are a good scrub! :p Makes the mask have a bit of a nice texture as well.
-Volcanic ash has benefits:
Volcanic ash is supposed to absorb toxins and strip impurities from the skin. I heard that it reduces skin inflammation.
CONS:
-Might not be too good for people with sensitive or dry skin.
The thermal effect might be bothersome to some. The volcanic ash particles might feel a little too rough.
-Length of time you have to leave mask on:
The instructions say to leave the mask on for about 10-15 minutes.
Not for people who don't have a lot of time? :P

I've heard that volcanic ash is suppose to be super good for your skin too, I'd love to try this product!
i love self heating masks they always seem to make my face seem alot cleaner :p althought i have tried on that gave me a rash so I understand what you mean it might not be for people with sensitive skin :p
how often would you say you should use it?
@Anonymous:
I've been using it at least once a week lately, sometimes twice/week.
The sales-person at the store recommended to use it only once a week though, fyi. :)
I want to try that!
